Research Associate (in-vitro diagnostics lab)

Scanadu is a consumer medical devices company developing a human-centered suite of products using science and technology to empower everyday people to monitor and better understand their health — anytime, anywhere. Our current project, Scanadu Urine, is a mobile urine test kit system designed to check for several health conditions by measuring the levels of chemicals in a urine sample. Be a part of a team whose vision is to combine a broad array of biochemical sensors and assays with intelligent algorithms to support data collection that will enable personalized medicine.

Role & Responsibilities

  • In depth involvement in the validation protocols and processes
  • Process specimen collections and sample processing duties
  • Follow SOP with great attention to detail
  • Performs special laboratory tests; analyzes human fluid samples on analytical equipment or iPhone
  • Conduct visual readings of urinalysis dipsticks of clinical samples
  • Monitors, screens, and troubleshoots any analytical device responsible for deriving critical patient information. These tasks include calibrations, quality control, run-by-run assessment, instrument maintenance, statistical control of observed data, and recording of normal operations.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology/medical laboratory science, chemistry, or biological science
  • Must have superior color discrimination on Farnsworth Munsell Test
  • At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory facility
  • Clinical and urinalysis experience preferred
  • A desire to learn new technologies quickly and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Preferred Experience | In addition, preferred candidates will have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Independently handling high volume clinical laboratory specimen with expertise in the following
  • Specimen acquisition, cataloguing, accessioning, and processing
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Strong Quality control experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with MS Office

**Condition of employment:

  • Must pass laboratory and color reading test (on-site)
